As the future bridal market floods into the beaches from the Fresno and Bakersfield area, we're keeping our "little pink becon" out in the New Times. Weekly ads, are bringing in a noticed increase of foot traffic, to our 'destination store.' Brides and their planning partners are learning one by one, the benefits of organizing at The Wedding Gallery of San Luis Obispo. "This is like stumbling upon a vein of gold," commented a bride and her enthusiastic mother this week. Visiting from Monterey, the pair, came into look at dresses, and ended up finding a photographer, cake company, caterer, and make-up artist.
The Dallidet Adobe & Gardens is a wonderful venue for romantic weddings and receptions. Conveniently located in downtown San Luis Obispo. Designated as California Historical Landmark #720, in the 1850's adbe was home to Pierre Hypolite Dallidet, the first commercial vintner in the area. his wife Maria Ascencion Salazar and their seven children. Currently, the Dallidet Adobe & Gardens, owned and operated by theSLO County Historical Society, is open for events and tours.
The Dallidet is often a favorite of brides who like a natural setting without too much dirt on the ground. This is a lush environment that makes for a lovely photo backdrop as well as a very pleasant experience for the guests. There are three areas from which to choose a wedding location, all of which are very charming. There is also a public restroom, and a soft sided structure for the bride to change and get ready on the premises.
The Wedding Gallery is quickly becoming the go to place for couples in love that don't have the time or the wherewithall to endure the headaches of traditional weddings...thus stated, Nicole, the coordinator of the Gallery has answered the recent cry for a more affordable way to get married without going to the "Court House." "Have you seen the Court House? It's a crime to get married there! It's not even a court house with lovely wood pillars and a judge in robes, like you see on TV. It's a cold metal office with no windows! That's just too simple, we gotta add some kind of style to the simplistic approach!"
So she did just that. One of her friends, Marc, a well to do - local business man, recently approached NIcole about renewing his vows with his wife in the
main Showroom. "I love the feel in here, it's got the coolest vibe. I can afford anything, but this just 'feels right,'" Marc said, then he hired a designer, to reorganize the room. They wanted to take out some of the eclectic 'wedding fair' feel and keep the peaceful creative flow that they love about the
Gallery. Nicole totally agreed, "I love it! Of course I'll change it up for anyone who has a different vision, but with the floral displays and the twinkle lights on the ceiling-it's ready at a drop of a hat for someone to stroll in off the streets and get married."
There's a wonderful arch in the front of the Gallery, that would also make a wonderful backdrop in the Gallery, if someone wanted to use that as a variation. The room can only accomodate up to 8 guests standing or 4 guests
sitting.
The
chapel package includes: an officiant, bouquet, boutinere, a photographer, and
a website of photos that you can order from. We also give you a complementary bottle of champagne.
GOOD OPTIONS TO CONSIDER: If you'd like you can also add the
photographer for a longer period of time so you can go down to the beach or
your favorite Central Coast spot for more photos (I highly recommend that!)
. Extra photographer time is $200/hour,
and includes a gift certificate for 20% of what you spend, in photo
credits.
You can also elect to have a
hairdresser and makeup artist for $180.00 or $300.00 depending on your Bride's
taste. We also have video service for $400.00, a live guitar or harp for $100.00,
a picnic for a beach lunch honeymoon for $75.00. We even have a limited supply of Wedding
Dresses that you can rent for the ceremony and photos that start at $45. I can also make arrangement for a suit or tux
rental to be delivered, as well as a small two tiered cake which starts around
$90.00.
This photo shows the bottom of the arch blessed with a huge floral display. To completely deck out the arch is $300.00 and we need at least 7 days to order.
"Dreams happen HERE!" is the article in the New Times, SLO paper that featured the Wedding Gallery's one stop shop concept in their latest Bridal Pullout.
I'm thrilled to not only have found out today that WE'VE had over 6,000 hits to the Wedding Gallery website...but that this wonderful article in the New Times of San Luis Obispo, that came out three or four months ago is still on the web!
Thanks again to Ryan Miller (writer and editor at the New Times, who personally interviewed Nicole for this project...and Steve Miller (no, they aren't related) photographer and artist, who shot all the great pix!
Check it out!

Joy fixes us to eternity and pain fixes
us to time. But desire and fear hold us in bondage to time, and
detachment breaks the bond.

We live both in the material realm and the spiritual. In our material
dimension we seek material pleasures, inherent in which is pain. Our
human emotions are tied to our material attachments, and joy, at its
fullest, is never found here. Real joy lies outside of the material
dimension while living fully within us too, in the secret, small place
inside where we always know that all is well.
We are on a trip in this life. And our journey is bringing us closer to
full understanding of joy with every sorrowful circumstance. When you
or I are one with God, have aligned our will with the will of God, we
know joy. We know this, fully, that all is well. No harm can befall us.
Each circumstance in the material realm is an opportunity for us to
rely on the spiritual realm for direction, security, and understanding.
As we turn within, to our spiritual nature, we will know joy.
One of our Make-up artists, June Westmore, is know for her career roots in Hollywood.
Though she's one of the busiest Wedding Makeup artists on the Central Coast she still takes time out to stay in touch with the Professional Makeup Scene, which was thick last weekend in Pasadena at the IMATS convention. June dragged the Wedding Gallery Crew; Nicole, Cil and Kiki (our latest design team leader) to the show so we could see what the trends were for the upcoming year.
Not only did we get inspired by the edgy free form of body make-up and avant garde faces, but we also got hip to the enormity of airbrush! AIRBRUSH ROCKS! It's not just for fake tans anymore-it's big for High def, and everyday wear.

Crazy body painting.
Could you imagine this being one of your bridesmaids?
One cricket said to another -- come, let us be ridiculous, and say love!

It's almost July, Wedding Season is in full swing, my kids are out of school and don't know what to do with so much time together. Camp outs, Weddings, Floral display consultations, meeting new vendors for the Gallery and all I can think about is the warm summer nights and LOVE...
No I'm not in LOVE, at least not that I'm going to admit now, but I'm around alot of people that are...and they are REDICULOUS!!! So let's join them and be ridiculous about what our love is like, and build a fire from it!
Let's run through love like it's a spinkler, let's put it in water balloons and splash it on each other. Let's say that our love is like summer stars that fill the sky by the camp fire. Let's enjoy the love that we celebrate when our friends get engaged, or our loved one find a new way to communicate. Let's be silly and share our love without taking measure of what it gives back or what it costs.
Let's increase our knowledge and learn new crafts-other's dedicate and love their wedding careers, and improve on them daily. Let's celebrate their expertise, and passion. Let's do what we Love and Love what we do.
