My favorite new Blog

A year or so ago I was at a crossroads...I asked God, or my Higherpower, or the Universe, or whoever you feel comfortable calling it-what direction I should take with my career.  Photography had lost it's lustre and I could no longer connect with the Couple getting married as I once could.  Being a wedding photographer was becoming a job that I had to grind out not something I was passionate about.  So I decided to put some of my well known, very reputable fellow Wedding Specialists together to make The Wedding Gallery of San Luis Obispo. 

The thing I'm most passionate about is how people come together to inspire each other and Brides.  This photo and blog entry illustrates it best.

This is better facilitated with the unity of several people to one cause.  We don't need to scratch and and bleed to have a wonderful wedding or event.

Wedding Dresses on Sale

Strangely enough, as I was shopping with a bride not more than a month ago for her wedding dress, I was amazed at all the wonderful feelinjgs that came with finding the "right dress."  I mused, I can't wait until I have dresses at the shop.  Miraculously they appeared!  We have some sample dresses that have never been worn, maybe tried on?  Maggie Sottero, Primier, Aurora, Jon Stewart---etc.  Some are two piece, some strapless, all beautiful!

Embassy Suites & SLO Youth Symphony

Today the Embassy suites hosted their annual SLO Youth Symphony fundrasier- brunch.  There were over 150 guests who dined and wined by ten of the most wonderful chefs in SLO county.  Each Chef, (or restaurant) presented a food station.  Wedding Gallery of San Luis Obispo, donated a simply springy backdrop on the stage for six of the talented youths to play on.  This was our first year being a part of this event, and originally we had just donated four floral enter pieces.  But as luck would bring the winds of change we were need in other areas, so we volunteered two large floral spray arrangements a top some Grecian columns.  Green and yellow sparkley tulle was generously layered over the columns, and under the flowers to give a focal point to the stage and lend a bit of atmosphere to the musicians.

It was an honor to be invited to help support such talented local musicians.  I marveled at their dedication and expertise to their art.  I'm wondering if I can download some of their work onto my iPod.

San Luis Event Planning

The Wedding Gallery of San Luis Obispo is so pleased to have been apart of Sydney's Bat Mitzvah Saturday May 10th at Edna Valley Vineyard.  Her mom found the perfect floral designer, Elegant Details by walking into our shop.  Elegant Details, did an incredible job with the larger than life arrangements in purple and white with gold accents and red details, that Sydney's mom had her hand in designing.  It was really fun to watch this party come together- from the cake, to the video to the awesome party gifts (personalized embroidered shirts hand tied and tagged for each guest).  The huge gold and white cake was from The Cakery, another Gallery member, and the Videography was by Jack Hutchison, another Gallery Member.

This was an incredible kick off for the Wedding Gallery's first season in full bloom and a great example of how we can help make any event easier and more beautiful than when you do it by yourself.

Wedding Make-up classes

Make-up classes are now being held at The Wedding Gallery of San Luis Obispo.  Classes are taught by Emmy award Winning Make-up artist FILM INDUSTRY MAKE-UP LEGEND, JUNE WESTMORE.

These classes aren't just for Brides as the blog title suggests, but for young teens, their moms, professional women needing a competitive edge, and people in the make-up industry.

Three-One day Make-up classes for people working in the beauty or make-up field is being held Saturday May 31^st, June 22^nd, and July 26^th.  The class is for four hours and costs $189.00.  The make-up class is for people who want to learn a life long art of maximizing their own beauty.  Students learn the secrets and techniques of the professional make-up artist.

"There are hundreds of opportunities here on the Central Coast for Professional Make-up Artists.  Spas, and salons that do make-up  as well as commercials and films that are being shot here on location," June states, "The time is ripe for proper education to put out true professionals."  Courses will include field trips to film studio sets so students can see how a larger part of the industry works.  A certificate of completion will also be given to student who finish the intensive class.  Advanced theatrical and special effects make-up classes will also be offered in the fall.

CLASSES ARE NOW ENROLLING FOR ONLY SIX STUDENTS TO BE ACCEPTED BY APPLICATION. Classes are small so each student can learn sided by side with June , “The way they do it by apprenticeship so the person can really learn their Trade. Classes meet twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm-10:00 p.m. 12 weeks, held in downtown San Luis Obispo at The Wedding Gallery, 1335 Broad street.
